Les Guédilles: Casual Street Food

Continuing with my street food saga, another Québéc “dish” very popular in snack bars, referred to as cantines, is “les guédilles“. Unlike poutine, guédilles, popularized in the early 1980s, are rarely seen outside Quebec. Best compared to a sandwich, guédilles are a street-food classic in the French-speaking province. Read more

The Poutine Phenomenon

An obligatory passage for me while on the street food theme is to talk about the most famous Québécois fast food, which can be found in snack bars and stands throughout Quebec (called “cantines”) and along the roads in summertime: Poutine.
